Michael Hogan, John, and James Duffy founded Deerness Fencing back in 1976. Today, it has established itself as the go-to fencing contractor in the Northeast of England, thanks to the hard work and dedication of its specialized teams operating in all industry sectors.

In 1976 Michael Hogan, John and James Duffy formed the business in Esh Winning, County Durham. Named Deerness Fencing the business started off as a little acorn, overtime growing into an old oak of the region with over 45 years experience and trading.

1985 Incorporation

The business was incorporated on the 27th September 1985 and was re-branded as Deerness Fencing Ltd. Until its merger in 1999 with Sones Landscaping, founded by Bill Sones in 1972.
Deerness Fencing & Landscaping Ltd was born.

Deerness Fencing along With Lumsden and Carrol merged to form the Esh Group and moved from our Esh Winning base to our current location in Bowburn North Industrial Estate, County Durham. where we have excellent transportation access to all of the northeast region as a whole

Once the merger was completed we moved from Esh House office to our current New House offices where we still are to this day and was recently secured as our permanent home for the business future growth. Bill formed his business in 1972 and brought a vast amount of knowledge to the business with the merger

Deerness Fencing and Landscaping Leave the Esh group and return to Hogan Family along with Jim Bates as the new stake holders

Deerness Fencing and Landscaping Ltd. were acquired from the Esh Group on January 1, 2022, by Jim Bates and Michael Hogan, bringing the business back under the Hogan family umbrella with the added benefit of Jim at the helm, driving the business forward.
With the business starting the process of re-branding and mapping out the future direction, success, and growth of the business, it is an exciting time within Deerness Fencing and Landscaping Ltd., with all its staff buying into its ethos and future direction.

Deerness Fencing & Landscaping have worked in Partnership with North Tyneside Council, carrying out planned fencing works for the past 10 years with an average annual value of £1,200,000. We supported the client with budget planning which involved fencing surveys of individual properties.
