About the project

Deerness Fencing & Landscaping have worked in Partnership with Believe Housing for 5 years delivering various regeneration schemes and Repairs and Maintenance services across their housing stock. Due to the two storms which were encountered in 2021 (Arwen) and 2022 (Malik) which had a detrimental impact on fencing to the boundary of the stock of houses, Believe Housing approached Deerness and requested we undertake extensive repairs and maintenance contract across a varied housing stock in the West of their stock. The initial report provided circa 200nr properties which had been affected to which Deerness Fencing and Landscaping reacted promptly starting within a two-week window and deployed 4 fencing gangs along with a surveyor to ensure the properties were surveyed in front of the works being undertaken. The works were completed within a 10-week window and Deerness Fencing and Landscaping were able to react quickly with our operating systems in place (Big Change).

Repairs and Maintenance

The Big Change system which is used within our repairs and maintenance sector allows the works to be conducted using a paperless transaction, all jobs (address/properties) are logged individually and the surveyor creates the record of what works are to be undertaken, this job card then is sent to the on-field operatives who accept the work, complete and take the necessary photographs to support what work has been completed. The system creates a survey job card which identifies what was to be completed and photos of the works beforehand, and the operatives complete the work the system creates a completion job card with photos to support the work which has been completed. All of which the client has access to.

Works completed on the repairs and maintenance contract were to collect fencing which had been decimated from the storms, remove the posts stumps and dispose of at registered waste facilities, any fencing which could be salvaged, new posts were installed and the existing fencing re-erected. Other works included re-concreting posts which had become loose, supplying and installing new posts to mid bays and making safe the fencing, supplying and installation of new timber single-leaf and double-leaf gates, and re-hanging/refixing existing gates.

On the back of a successful Phase 1 completion, they have awarded Deerness Fencing and Landscaping Phase 2
